Joy was born in in St. Johns, Antigua and Barbuda—the youngest of six children. Joy’s mother jokes that she hit the jackpot when she had Joy. Joy emigrated to Florida when she was 16 years old in the hope of finding prosperity in the land of opportunity.
The journey has been long but Joy—with her husband Frank—have achieved the American dream. Joy now wishes to provide a Caribbean flavor in the New Smyrna Beach area.
The area was first settled in 1768 by Dr. Andrew Turnbull, who named it New Smyrna Beach in honor of his wife’s Greek heritage and birthplace. Likewise Joy By The Sea is named after Joy’s Antiguan heritage and birthplace. Joy By The Sea fits the community’s reputation as one of the most fun and safe places in Florida for relaxation.
Now more than ever in the digital age, people need a place to detox from the daily grind. Joy By The Sea offers that place. Joy hopes you enjoy your stay and in the words of the famous Antiguan proverb, dutty water cool hot iron (“everything has its use”, including vacation!)
